Why are the %DV so high on my supplement facts table?

The % DV is determined based on the amount of a specific nutrient that is expected to be sufficient for 97% of healthy individuals ages 4 and older, and represents the amount of a nutrient needed to keep from developing a nutrient-deficiency disease. We know that these values may not be representative of the nutrient requirements of all individuals.

In some nutrients, the rate of absorption is quite low, so while your DV% may be over 100%, your body will not absorb all of the nutrient.

Even if a DV is above 100%, it is still below the upper intake limit (UI) and safe to take without the risk of side effects.
